Kitchen renovation budget in 2026: how is the price per linear metre built up?

Base, wall and tall cabinets, worktop and VAT: an itemised breakdown of an example 11-metre kitchen.

'How much will my kitchen cost per linear metre?' is the most common question in the industry, but it has no single answer: the price depends not only on the length of the base cabinet run but also on wall units, tall units, worktop, accessories and VAT. Below we unpack an example kitchen item by item, following our calculator's logic.

The example kitchen

A base cabinet run of 6 metres, a wall run of 5 metres and one 60 cm tall unit; matt lacquer doors (31,000 TRY per metre of base cabinet), a quartz worktop (9,800 TRY per metre), standard accessories, no handleless profile, old kitchen removal included.

Item by item

  • Cabinet cost: 31,000 × (6 + 0.75 × 5 + 0.9 × 1) = 330,150 TRY — wall units are priced at about 75% of base units and tall units at 90%
  • Worktop: 9,800 × 6 = 58,800 TRY
  • Removal and debris: 6,000 + 1,200 × 6 = 13,200 TRY
  • Subtotal excl. VAT: 402,150 TRY
  • VAT (20%): 80,430 TRY
  • Total: about 482,580 TRY; average per linear metre (base+wall) about 43,900 TRY

Decisions that move the budget

  • Door material: choosing matt lacquer over melamine adds about 77%, and about 44% over membrane
  • Handleless profile: +8%
  • Advanced accessory package: +5%, premium (electric opening, internal LED): +12%
  • Worktop: moving from laminate to sintered stone makes a difference of about 67,800 TRY over 6 metres

What is not included

Built-in appliances (hob, oven, hood, dishwasher), sink and tap, and refurbishment works (tiling, electrical and plumbing changes) are not included. We suggest allowing a further 20–35% in your total budget for these. The firm price is given in writing item by item after the free survey and 3D project and does not change until installation day.

Three ways to save

  1. Use a mixed door scheme with durable melamine on base units and matt lacquer on wall units
  2. Limit the number of tall units to what you need; deep-drawer base cabinets are often enough
  3. Cut waste by splitting the worktop into an island and a main run instead of one piece

Remember: the cheapest quote does not mean the lowest total cost. Carcase material, hinge brand and warranty period determine total outlay over the next ten years. So in quotes, look at the full list of technical specifications and not just the price per linear metre.
