Bornova Loft Kitchen – Alaz

In a loft flat converted from an old textile workshop in Bornova, Izmir, an industrial kitchen was installed to match the exposed brick walls. A 4.2 m single run of cabinets offers maximum storage in a small 12 m² kitchen area.

Installation summary

• Alaz series anthracite melamine doors and smoked-glass wall cabinets
• Black steel-tube rail system and open shelf modules
• Solid oak worktop and a white ceramic sink
• Special anchoring for fixing cabinets to the brick wall
• Production three weeks, installation two days

Because brick walls do not provide a uniform substrate, cabinet fixings were made with chemical anchors and a load test was applied to the wall cabinets. The client saved about 22% of the budget by having the worktop made from solid oak he sourced himself.

Result

When installation was complete the cabinet run merged with the brick wall, and the steel rail turned into a display for the owner's collection of pans and ladles. With a two-day installation, the project was handed over a day ahead of schedule.
